【畢業生訪談】工程師Jamal 宿霧MeRISE遊學經驗談

MeRISE: What’s your previous job? 你最近的職業是什麼？

Jamal: I am an engineer.

我是一名工程師。

MeRISE: Are you using English when you’re at work? 你之前在工作中會使用到英語嗎？

Jamal: Yes, I am planning to find a job in a global company.

是的，我未來計畫要找一份外商公司的工作。

MeRISE: Why did you choose to go to the Filipino Language School? 為什麼你會選擇到菲律賓的語言學校學英語？

Jamal: Compare to Europe or America or Australia’s English academy, the price of the English academy in Philippines is cheaper. In addition, there was more one on one courses, and Philippine is near to Taiwan, no need to cost much time on transportation.

比較起歐洲、美國或是澳洲的語言學校，菲律賓的語言學校價位較低。另外菲律賓也有較多的一對一課程，而且也離台灣比較近，不需花很多時間在交通上。

MeRISE: Why do you choose to study at MeRISE English Academy? 為什麼你會選擇到MeRISE學英語

Jamal: My agent recommended me that, if you want to focus on business English, MeRISE will be a good choice. Compare to other schools, MeRISE has the most professional and complete BE course.

我的代辦推薦我，如果想專注在商業英文，MeRISE會是你最好的選擇；相較於其他學校MeRISE有更專業的且完整的商業英文課程。

MeRISE: How was your study in the Philippines? 你在菲律賓的學習過程如何？

Jamal: The teachers here, they all have many experiences in teaching and all work hard, they can provide useful and variety lessons and will adjust lessons according to each student’s English ability. Also, teachers are all passionate and lively, they make learning English become fun.

這裡的老師們都有很有經驗而且工作相當認真，他們可以提供有用且多樣化的課程，而且會依照每個同學不同的英文程度去調整教材，另外，老師們也都很熱情有活力，他們讓學習英文變得更有趣。

MeRISE: Have you studied English before? 你之前有學習過英語嗎？

Jamal: Yes, I learn English at school.

有，但我只在學校學習過英文。

MeRISE: What has changed yourself compare to before? 來到MeRISE學習後，你覺得自己有什麼改變嗎？

Jamal: Actually I used to have a lot of English vocabulary words in school, but I didn’t use it in Taiwan, so I forgot all about it.
Come here and you can quickly train your speaking skill and listening skill, If you have a certain foundation, you can get progress quickly.

以前學生時期其實累積不少的單字量，但在台灣常常沒機會使用，所以我幾乎全部都忘掉了。來這邊你可以快速地訓練口說及聽力，如果原本就已經有點基礎，你可以更多的獲得進步。

MeRISE: Did you enjoy your weekends in Cebu? 你享受自己在宿霧的假日期間嗎？

Jamal: Although I always stayed in Cebu city, but in here, there are many restaurants and bars and the prices are much cheaper than Taiwan, without paying a lot of money, you still can have a luxury life.

儘管我總是待在宿霧市區，但這裡有很多餐廳及酒吧價格都比台灣便宜很多，不需要花很多錢你還是可以過得很享受。

MeRISE: Do you think your English ability has already improved through this study abroad? 你認為在菲律賓遊學的經驗有讓自己的英語能力改善嗎？

Jamal: Through this experience, I have recalled my previous English skills. I also learned a lot of English communication methods for business terms and negotiation skills.

經過這次遊學經驗，我已經找回之前的英文能力、也學到很多英文商務術語和談判技巧。

MeRISE: How do you keep your English competence in the future? 未來你打算如何維持自己的英語能力呢？

Jamal: I hope I can work in an international company in the future so that I will have many chances to use English. I believe that I still can improve or keep my English skills.

我希望未來可以在一個國際公司工作，這樣我就會有很多機會使用英文，並且我相信我可透過這樣持續進步或維持我的英文技巧。

MeRISE: Do you have any plans after study abroad? 這趟國外遊學結束後，有任何計畫嗎？

Jamal: I will send my resume and do the interview immediately, hope that I can get an offer from a global company.

我將立刻投遞履歷並面試，希望我可以進入外商公司任職。

MeRISE: Finally, I would like you to leave a message to those who are going to study at MeRISE. 最後，請你對即將來到MeRISE遊學的同學說一些話吧！

Jamal: Be brave to enjoy life! Studying abroad is a very special experience, where you can enjoy the lessons and experience new things abroad.
In addition, it is also recommended that students who plan to come over will bring more cold medicine, because the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor is very easy to get sick. Although the school is very close to the hospital and they have a doctor in school every Monday, it will be better to bring more medicine.

勇敢地享受生活吧！海外遊學是一個特別的經驗，除了課堂之外也會體驗到國外新鮮有趣的事物。
另外，建議有計畫來就讀的同學可以多帶一些感冒藥，因為室內外溫差，很容易就感冒了；即使MeRISE離醫院很近、每周一也有校內醫生，還是建議可以自備一些常用的藥品。
